Indeed, in my next life I am coming back as house cat in a really nice family. I will expect gourmet food and a comfy couch to nap on and some cool play toys! "The Beauty of Cats" by Howard Loxton - 1972.
The book starts with a couple of great pages of Cat Poetry, then gets into things in the first chapter discussing the issues with the big cats, like lions, tigers, cheetahs and wild other ferocious cats like Mountain Lions, bob cats and such. Much different than house cat species as the author shows through pictorials and explanation of some of the most popular cats that people own as house cats or show cats.
Learn about the history of sacred cats, cat art and the mystery of cats. The book also gets into the types of food cats in the wild eat and the types of cat food they love, and the unfortunate parasites and diseases that they attract and how and when it's time to see a vet. This is a wonderful coffee table book about cats that is great for young or old, cat lovers or cat owners. I highly recommend this book, if you love cats.

Prevention and Control Feline Leukemia for Cat

Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) remains one of the most important causes of disease and death in cats. It causes a variety of malignancies, but persistent infection can also cause severe immunosuppression and profound anemia. The virus is present worldwide.
Prevention and Control: A test and removal program to rid catteries and multicat households of FeLV can be extremely effective if these guidelines are carefully followed:
1) All cats should be tested for FeLV viremia (IFA is best).
2) All viremic cats should be removed.
3) All dishes, litterpans, and bedding should be disinfected.
4) All movement of cats in and out of the cattery should be prevented.
5) All cats should be retested after 12 weeks to detect cats that may have been incubating the virus at the time of the first test.
6) The quarantine can be lifted when all cats have tested negative on two consecutive occasions, 12 weeks apart.
7) All cats should be tested and quarantined before introduction to the cattery. Ideally, two tests 12 wk apart should be done.
8) Breeding should be only to cats known to be FeLV-negative, and cats should be introduced only from FeLV-negative colonies.
FeLV vaccines are intended to protect cats against FeLV infection or, at least, to prevent persistent viremia. Types of vaccines include killed whole virus, subunit, and genetically engineered. Vaccines may vary in protective effect, and manufacturers' claims and independent comparative studies should be carefully noted. The following guidelines for vaccine use have been recommended:
1) Only healthy, afebrile (no fevers) cats should be vaccinated.
2) Cats from a high-risk or unknown background should be tested for FeLV before vaccination.
3) All cats at risk of exposure to FeLV should be vaccinated.

Summer is the hardest time of year for your pets. Not only do they have to deal with the heat but they have to deal with all those squirmy critters too. If you have a flea and tick problem I'll give you a few facts and remedies to deal with this problem. I don't recommend spraying your yard because dogs and cats tend to eat grass and other plants in your yard and also will get dirt on their pads and could get sick from the yard spray.
The first thing I would do is get rid of the fleas on my pets. Give your dog a bath, but not your cat. Cats don't like baths too much and they don't need it. Giving your dog a bath gets rid of a lot of the fleas on them. When you give your dog a bath make sure you use a plain dog shampoo not a flea shampoo because we don't want to double dose your pet. Make sure your pet is dry and then I recommend either Frontline Plus or Advantix or Revolution. These three work the best I promise you. I have six little dogs and believe me I know what works. Revolution is great because it also kills heartworms and other worms too. But you must be careful to get your pets tested for heartworm first and then you can use Revolution every month after that with no fear of getting your pets tested every month as long as you give them the Revolution every single month even in winter. Pests can hang around even in the winter months.
After your pets are all done now you must take care of your house. Vacum everything, rugs, couches, chairs, anything that your pets sit on. Wash all blankets and pet beds every few days until you get rid of the fleas. That includes your beds and blankets too. Then I would get a good flea spray for the house, not the kind that go on your pets. There is a difference. If you don't have the money for a good spray then I recommend moth balls or moth ball flakes but you also have to be careful with these. Pets can eat them and get sick. I would put them wherever your pets can't get at them. I put them under all my furniture and in corners only if your pets don't go there.
Now that your pets are taking care of and your house is taken care of you should be pest free in about a couple of days believe me with six dogs I know what works. It's a good idea to keep giving your pets the flea treatments all year long especially the Revolution because of the heartworm medication. If you already give your pet a heartworm pill then you can just go with Frontline Plus or Advantix. Now your done and you can enjoy the summer with your pets.

A cat whisperer is a person who communicates with cats better than other cat owners. But they communicate so much better with cats such that their conversations are sometime what we called as a cat chat.
They are just people who are lucky enough to have a cat show up at their doorstep. Plus they are very successful with that cat.
Many a times, cats such as the black cats and alley cats will "knock" at someone's door and decided to move into their homes. The reasons can be many, such as being abandoned or just taken a liking for that particular person's house.
Many people will assume that a cat whisperer is being regarded as a therapist for cats, as they can understand the felines about their needs and wants as if they are having a conversation with them all the time. Plus, most of the entire whisperers did not go through any kind of training but they just know it naturally.
Abused or mistreated felines have been traumatized and will not respond to anyone other than a cat whisperer. Others who wanted to help the cat will only make matters worse by making the cat feel scared and afraid.
Cats that have been mistreated previously will not trust anyone so easily. They are often traumatized and confused and they feel pain just like humans do. You can always know which cat is being physically abused by the sight of it. But emotionally depressed felines can be perfectly healthy but emotionally, they have been wrecked. In mid-1990’s, Program™ (Lufenuron) made its debut. This pill was the first medication of the new flea control programs. Program ™ was effective, but limited based on its method of action. Program ™ causes larvae to be unable to hatch. Adult fleas are not killed by this product. The adult fleas must naturally die before your pet receives relief from fleas. Sentinel ™ is a medication that contains both a heartworm prevention and Lufenuron. Neither Program ™ nor Sentinel ™ are effective at eliminating adult fleas to give your pet immediate relief.
More recently, Advantage™, Frontline™ and Revolution® have made their marks in the pet community. Which medication is right for your pet? Well, it depends on the outcomes that you desire.
Revolution is a topical medication that is absorbed into your pet’s body. It is formulated for both cats and dogs. It is effective in preventing heartworm disease, fleas, and ticks. There are a handful of other organisms that Revolution will treat/prevent, please discuss this with your veterinarian. The medication is extremely effective prevention for all of these parasites. It requires a veterinary prescription to be able to obtain and apply the medication. For this reason, it can be difficult to obtain from online sources. Many veterinarians require a periodic (usually annual) heartworm test before writing prescriptions or filling a request for Revolution.
